BEFORE I WAKE

the bed is still with us
sun sings you stirring
she lulls me deeper

we are running
a field of brown
sky in tandem
eyes of everything

Red finds me
seeps through to my toes
there is no waiting
we must go

you stop where we decided
Red says I cannot stay
who would I be to not listen?

lick my wounds
scrapes of Red I made myself

I do not wake until you’ve gone

Before I Wake
